Biography
Joohyun Choi is a Korean flutist based in Germany, active as a traverso and modern flute player. Her musical work focuses on Baroque music and historical performance practice, alongside her activities as a chamber musician, artistic director and project developer.
She completed her Master’s degree in Historical Performance Practice at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main in 2025, studying traverso with Prof. Daniela Lieb.
Since 2023, she has been a Co-Founder, Artistic Director and Flutist of Otium Moment, a historical performance ensemble. Alongside performing with the ensemble, she develops concert programmes, artistic concepts and collaborations, and coordinates various performance projects.
Since 2025, she has also been a Co-Project Director and Performer of MADI Klang Projekt, working with musicians and artists to develop and realise new artistic projects. Alongside artistic planning and coordination, she also performs in the projects as a flutist.
Her work brings together performance, artistic direction and project development, with a particular interest in creating new contexts for historical music and connecting musicians, artists and audiences.
